History:
- 1909–1939: Founded by Ettore Bugatti in Molsheim, Alsace, the company gained fame for its high-performance automobiles and racing success, notably with the Type 35, which won over 1,000 races.
- 1940–1952: World War II and the death of Ettore’s son, Jean Bugatti, led to a decline. Post-war efforts to revive the brand were unsuccessful, and production ceased in the early 1950s.
- 1987–1995: Italian entrepreneur Romano Artioli acquired the brand, producing the EB110, a technologically advanced supercar. However, financial difficulties led to the company’s closure in 1995.
- 1998–2015: Volkswagen Group purchased Bugatti in 1998, introducing the Veyron 16.4 in 2005, which became the world’s fastest production car, solidifying Bugatti’s position in the hypercar segment.
- 2016–Present: Bugatti launched the Chiron in 2016, continuing its legacy of performance and luxury. In 2021, Bugatti merged with Rimac Automobili, focusing on hybrid and electric technologies for future models.
