History:

  1. 1904–1946: Founded as the Hudson Overall Company in 1904 by C.C. Hudson in Greensboro, North Carolina, the company was renamed Blue Bell Overall Company in 1919, establishing a foundation in workwear manufacturing.
  2. 1947–1960: Blue Bell acquired the Wrangler brand in 1943 and, in 1947, launched the Wrangler 11MWZ jeans, designed specifically for cowboys with input from Rodeo Ben, marking its entry into Western apparel.
  3. 1960–1986: Wrangler expanded internationally, opening a factory in Belgium in 1962, and gained prominence in Europe. In 1974, it became the official jeans of the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
  4. 1986–2019: The merger with VF Corporation in 1986 facilitated further growth. By 1996, one in every five pairs of jeans sold in America was a Wrangler. In 2019, Wrangler, along with Lee, became part of Kontoor Brands, a spin-off from VF Corporation.
